Criminal psychology

Criminal psychology is the field of psychology through which are studied criminal and delinquent behaviours. A psychologist working upon this field is trying to understand the behaviours, thoughts, and emotions of the individuals committing or attempting to commit a crime. As in any other area of psychology, criminal psychology is preoccupied with the past of the individual (how one became an offender), psychological aspects during the offending event or career (thinking, organizing), and of course, the existence of mental disorder in relation to the behaviour.
